Limited Capacity filling up

This workshop will focus on the understanding of improvisation in different modal contexts. We will go through techniques and concepts that have been used in jazz since the late 50's, such as pedal points, vamps, pentatonics or triads, and we will see how to use them not only in modal music but also in tonal chord progressions.

Apel·les Carod Requesens (Cambrils, Catalonia, 1989). Jazz violinist and composer. First Jazz Violin graduate in Spain (2010-2015, ESMUC), he extended his studies in New York, at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (2015-2016). He has been twice awarded with the second prize at the International Zbigniew Seifert Jazz Violin Competition (2014 and 2016). He has led his own bands (quartet, septet and trio), and has played and collaborated with bands and artists of different styles such as Txarango, Els Pets, Lecirke, David Mauricio, Esmuc Jazz Project, Pawel Kaczmarczyk, Stanislaw Slowinski, etc. He has performed his music at prestigious venues and festivals in Catalonia, and also internationally, in countries such as Poland, Hungary or the USA.
