Matthew has worked with musicians such as:
Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Guy Laffite, Al Cohn, Tete Montoliu, Jerry Lewis, Natalie Cole, Dianne Warwick, Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie (under the direction of Vince Mendoza), Louis Bellson, Frank Wess, Dennis Rowland (vocalist with Count Basie), Orange then Blue (Boston), Wayne Naus Big Band, Either Orchestra, Frankie Valli, Dick Dale, Michel Camilo, Bart Van Lier, Jack McDuff, Lucrecia, Gato Pérez and many others.
He did the tour of Spain and South America with El gusto es nuestro con Ana Belén, Miguel Ríos, Víctor Manuel y Joan Manuel Serrat (1996-1997).
He did the tour of Spain with Operación Triunfo 1.
He did the tour of USA and Europe with Ibrahim Ferrer y la Buena Vista Social Club en el 2003.
He works with the Big-Band of Terrassa (as soloist and lead trumpet) backing up artists such as Michael Mossman, John Mosca, Dick Oatts, Bobby Shew, Gary Smulyan, Carmen Mundy, Slide Hampton, Judy Niemack…
He has recorded with Phil Woods, Jon Faddis, Jesse Davis, Grant Stewart, with the BARCELONA JAZZ ORQUESTRA, where he is the lead trumpet.
He has worked as soloist with the Orq. de Cámara de Andorra, the Orq. sinfónica de Euskadi, the Orq. sinfónica de Barcelona (under the direction of Elmer Bernstein), and he is the principal trumpet for the Orq. sinfónica de Sant Cugat.
He is a founding member of the Orq. De Cámara del Teatre Lliure in Barcelona with whom he has recorded 12 CD’S for Harmonía Mundi.
He has premiered the 2do CONCIERTO PARA TROMPETA Y ORQUESTA, “travesía con aroma a café”, with the Orquestra simfónica de Sant Cugat, dedicated to MATTHEW SIMON, and written by the Colombian composer Juan Carlos Valencia Ramos (2015)
He has published his first CD “CONTINENTAL BLUES”
He is currently working as professor of jazz trumpet studies and improvisation, as well as combos, in the Superior Music Conservatory of Catalunya (ESMuC) as well as the Superior Music Conservatory of the LICEU, in Barcelona.
